THE CRAVING IS REAL

Flavored potato chips

Popcorn is a whole grain. Popping plain kernels with measured seasoning gives sodium control compared with some flavored snack bags.

What you’ll need

Ingredients

Let’s do this

  1. 1

Put oil and 3 popcorn kernels in a large heavy saucepan with a lid. Heat over medium heat until those kernels pop.

  2. 2

Add the remaining kernels, cover, and shake the pan gently to spread them into a layer. Leave a tiny lid gap for steam while keeping kernels contained.

  3. 3

Cook, shaking the covered pan occasionally, until popping slows to about 2 seconds between pops. Remove from heat promptly.

  4. 4

Wait for popping to stop, then tip into a large bowl, leaving unpopped kernels behind. Toss with paprika, garlic powder, and salt while warm.
